Access Information
A free thirty-day trial access to this site is provided to those who qualify. Modest membership fees, which start at $29/yr., begin after thirty days. (A full price schedule is shown once you've logged on.)
IDs and passwords are issued to travel media professionals, in the following three categories, according to the procedures described below:
- Magazine, newspaper, guidebook and E-publication editors
- If you're an editor who buys freelance, please e-mail Marsh Whitfield from your publication's e-mail account, stating your full name, title, and the URL (web address) of your publication's web site. Please include your publication's circulation (or site rank if a web site), your pay range for typical articles, and the names and e-mail addresses of three freelancers from whom you've recently bought travel articles and/or photos.
- Travel marketing professionals
- This category includes public relations, communications and marketing professionals currently employed by a P.R. firm, CVB or similar organization, or by a hotel company or other travel operator, at the account executive level (or equivalent) and above. If you qualify, please
e-mail Marsh Whitfield from your organization's e-mail account, stating your full name, title, the name of a travel client, and the URL (web address) of your organization's web site. Note: you should hear back within 4 days; if you don't, please assume your e-mail did not go through and re-send.
- Professional travel journalists (writers and photographers)

Regarding this list, our door is open to all travel-oriented organizations which enforce professional-level membership standards comparable to SATW's, so if your writers' organization is not on our list and you think it should be, here's how to get the ball rolling: we'll need to hear from an official of your organization by e-mail who can give us the specifics about your admittance guidelines and how your admittance standards are enforced, and who can also provide us with a current directory listing of members in good standing.
The initial qualification process only takes a few days. Once an applying organization's membership standards have been reviewed and accepted, all of its members have automatic admittance to our site; individual IDs and passwords are issued immediately upon request. There is no cost or obligation to the applying organization in this qualification process, and approval by us of an organization does not require or imply any reciprocal endorsement of this site by the approved organization.
We regret that this web site is not equipped to qualify writers and others on an individual basis. However, if you are a well-published travel writer or photographer who wishes to access the resources here, and you are unaffiliated with any organization, you may wish to look into International Travel Media. Its membership requirements are no less stringent than our other approved organizations, but it is very inexpensive to join.
